Learn ta lo ne

Welcome to the ta lo ne learning page. While lessons or a manual may come in the future, for now this page will contain ideas that may be useful for anyone who would like to learn this language.

Getting Acquainted

Step One
Introduce yourself to ta lo ne by reading over the Home, About and FAQ pages, or any of the pages for that matter. This will help you get a basic knowledge of what the language is and how it came about.

Step Two
Brief over the words and their meanings before taking a more careful look at the How it Works page. These two pages could also be called "lexicon" and "grammar" in more linguistic terms. Try to get a feel for how the language works by translating some emotions and simple sentences using the guidelines and roots.

Step Three
After getting a basic understanding of the grammar and words, check out the phrases and sample texts to see the language in action. This page offers some useful starters for using ta lo ne and also a literal and rough translation of a small original ta lo ne passage of text. This will help you the most in visualizing how such a strange but curious language works.

Step Four
Give it a go on the Say Hi page if you like, just to try your hand at some phrases and words you've learned. I and any others interested in ta lo ne would love to know you're out there! As a beginning conlanger it's exciting to get others who like philosophical languages and such to collaborate and chat.

Step Five
With reading over the material on this site, in the order above or any order you like, you should be able to get a good grasp on ta lo ne. It's a simple language, yet it takes some time to get used to this simplicity.

Learning and Memorizing

Step One
Print out a copy of the newest word list and study the words' nominal and verbal meanings.
This, as well as any other ta lo ne-related files can be found at the file dropbox awww.drop.io/talonewords. When you reach the page, look for the most recent version that is easily downloadable and printable in PDF format.

It is by no means possible to list all the possible meanings or translations that the words contain, but I hope the ones I've listed give you an idea as to what the given word is meant to convey. If you have any ideas, suggestions, corrections or questions, as always feel free to
email me or write them in the chat box.

Step Two
A tokiponist Dave who found out about
ta lo ne has created a useful spreadsheet for easier learning and a more concise overview of the words. Thanks, Dave! This is also available at the drop.io filebox. Take a look at this for studying and memorizing purposes.

Step Three
Continue to check out the
How it Works page that is often updated to reflect new aspects of the language.

Step Four
Practice makes perfect! As even I, the creator, am by no means "fluent" in this language yet, the best thing to do is practice by making use of the
chatbox or just trying to translate some sentences into ta lo ne. It can be a challenge at first, but be creative and always email me if you have any questions. Some things have yet to even be decided for ta lo ne; it is not a complete language yet.

Step Five
Follow @
TaloneLanguage on Twitter for updates and news! Soon, as I said, I may come out with some lessons or more word meaning updates, grammar updates, etc. to the language. Thank you!
